Overview

This note is a contribution to the IStructE’s debate on the teaching of structural engineering at undergraduate level, for the general information of ICE and HSE, and for wider debate.

The key recommendation is that structural safety risk management should be taught across the curriculum at universities.

Note: this Topic Paper was published by SCOSS (Standing Committee on Structural Safety). Since March 2021, SCOSS is integrated under the name Collaborative Reporting for Safer Structures (CROSS).
