Neil Gibbins QFSM appointed to the Building Safety Competence Foundation (BSCF)
Congratulations to CROSS’s Lead Fire Safety Consultant, Neil Gibbins QFSM on joining the Building Safety Competence Foundation (BSCF).
Neil’s appointment was one of two key posts announced today by the BSCF, the Community Interest Company set up by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) in 2021 as a public interest organisation to provide a range of services for the construction industry. Graham Watts OBE has been appointed chair, while Neil joins the Board of Directors.
Neil said, “ I am delighted to be joining the Board of The Competence Foundation and look forward to helping their critical work. I support the need for competence validation for those involved in safety critical decisions in building design, construction, and assessment of compliance.
It has been a challenging journey, post Grenfell, for all building control professionals. The Foundation provides a safe home for competence schemes, part of the jigsaw of the new building safety framework. I am particularly keen to ensure that maintenance of knowledge is included as part of the demonstration of competency.”
